What are your fees?

My standard fees for professional counseling are $150.00 per 50-minute appointment.  Additional hours can be scheduled at one time if you prefer. If you truly cannot afford our customary rates you may qualify for a reduced fee.  Ask our secretary for more information on our sliding fee scale program.  If you are paying by check please make checks payable to Don Short LLC.  You can also pay by credit card or cash.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

I maintain a 24-hour cancellation policy for appointments. Only in cases of emergency will the cancellation policy be waived.  Late cancellation/no shows will be charged for the scheduled hour.  I require a credit card to be held on file or cash down payment for each appointment made to maintain your status as a client.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an in network provider with BlueCross BlueShield Insurance. I am out-of-network on all other insurance plans at this time.  If you wish to file a claim with your insurance company, I will provide you with documentation to submit on your own behalf.  Not all plans cover mental health care and not all counseling is considered medically necessary.  Please consult with your insurance company to determine your benefits. Reimbursement from your insurance company is strictly between you and your insurance company.

Is there a potential counseling risk?

The client should be aware that counseling can may pose potential risks. In the course of working together additional problems may surface of which the client was not initially aware. If this occurs, the client should feel free to share these new concerns with me.

What if this is an emergency situation?

If you have an emergency situation, please go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
